My Mutt Life and My Godmother.

Hello my name is Nealie and I’m a halfie, or a “mutt”. I love being Mexican American because there is nothing like Texan family love and Mexican family values. Not to mention the fact that I have my own army if anyone ever bothers me. The Sanchez clan is pretty tight knit when we’re all together and there are just sooooo many of us.

Today I want to talk about the strongest member of mí famillia, my Godmother, Vicki. My aunt V has been battling cancer for over a year. And as her niece, goddaughter, supporter, and family I try my best to find the words that instill a surfeit of hope in her. I’d like to say I’m not too shabby at it! (I mean I’m pretty okay with words. You’re still reading them anyways so I can’t be half bad.) V emails the whole family updates on how she’s feeling and what she’s been up to and every time I get an email I breathe a little easier.
This is where it’s nice to have your own Mexican army family. Aunt V has every single one of us to support her. And that is something special that some people don’t get to have.
But lately V isn’t feeling so good, things are going a little down hill for her. This breaks my heart in more ways then I could tell you because I love my V to pieces and back together again. But then at the end of her email she types out these happy little parting words.

Why yes, she is the strongest lady alive, I know you were all wondering. So before you think you will never be able to continue on, no matter what your situation, remember that at the end there will be your Disneyland.

XOXO
“Mutt” Nealie
