This summer is all about “broadening my horizons” or whatever. So I’ve been saying yes to just about everything at least once. So when my brother asked me to go to Warped Tour with him of course I said yes. When I told my friends I was going the first response I got in the group text read “Who are you!?”. Why? Because that’s totally not my scene.
At 10:00 a.m. I was dressed and ready to go to Warped with my siblings. I was armed with only my fanny pack, SPF 50, and limited knowledge of a few bands that were performing that day.
Getting there was an ordeal. Traffic for the last few miles and when we could finally see the Gexa Energy pavilion my brother made a U turn and claimed to be going “the back way”. Which made us late so we missed seeing their favorite band The Real Friends. So the first band we saw was The Story So Far. They were amazing live AND my sister crowd surfed.
Missing The Real Friends ruined my little sisters day… But we got to meet up with them and have them sign some CDs. (The bassist told me I had a sick fanny pack!) We also illegally snuck a selfie.
After that we got to see Breathe Carolina perform. IT. MADE. MY. LIFE. They played a lot of their new stuff that was rad, but their very last song was Blackout and everyone was feeling it. The whole crowd was jumping and singing and getting it. I also appreciated how great they were at crowd involvement.
While Morgan, Michaela, and I were watching Breathe Carolina my brother was busy meeting Echosmith! (Echosmith, after their set, became my current favorite band.)
Here he is with the band! (Cute little Sydney’s eyes are closed.)
After that we did a little bit of shopping where I picked up this rad Warped tank.
Then my sister and I say around for a bit at the Journey stage watching lots of bands play until my all time favorite band, Mayday Parade, came on at the Electric Soul stage. They played a lot of old favorites including my absolute favorite, Black Cat. Then during the last song in their set I found the guts to crowd surf.
Then my sister and I sat around at the Journeys Stage while my brother shopped to kill time until Echosmith came on. I’m positive that I was hooked the second Sydney said a single word, and I was positively obsessed with them by the time their set was over.
The song of theirs that gets featured on the radio is linked below!
After their set we left and stopped at sonic on the way home. We were all very sweaty and very exhausted. Here’s my end of day selfie.
I got the best sleep of my life and some of the best memories ever…
That is, until I went to New York and made even more memories to share with you. π
XOXO
