This is video one! This was late because I was in the hospital with Colton for a few days but all is well now! We have cool matching scars from appendectomies now and he can officially say he has had surgery…
So here it is! A peek a beautiful Telliride Colorado AND video one of 2016:

Hello loves!
Happy New Year!
I can’t believe that so many amazing things have happened this past year. I took my first step into video. I’ve had three different jobs. Most impressive of all I’ve stayed in school despite all the finals!
Many other big things have happened in my life as well.
This year I am setting the goal (once again) to have one video a week.
Video day will be Friday.
For right now I’m up 10,000 feet in the air in the mountains of Colorado.
Here’s a little peek at my trip!
NBNealie
Hi I haven’t been here all semester because my advanced hours have been very difficult and balancing that with my job as a waitress has basically left me as a shell of the internet queen I once was.
I’m so sorry.
However semester will soon be over and I will have lots of holiday posts for you and hopefully have some currated for the following months.
Please allow one week for me to dust off my old internet queen crown and get it resized…
For now please enjoy this old video where I first showed you my sick dancing skills and maybe get back on track for your goals. Don’t wait for the new year. Start now.
XOXO,
NBNealie
Hello loves,
I started this blog because I love to write. In fact, as a Journalism major, my whole life revolves around writing. So while videos are a fun way to communicate with you all I still have to stick to what I know best. (Which I will assure you is not video editing… I’m actually just winging it and I’m sort of the worst at it.)
So, most of us are headed back to school… some of us to high school, some of us having the last first day of high school, some of us experiencing the first day of college, and some seasoned college veterans.
In my case it is my Junior year of college – Still at my dream university.
This means that I feel “Back to School” knowledgable enough to learn you a few things…
5 Things to do for Back to School:
#1.) Start a routine.
I say start a routine and I mean FAST. Your routine should consist of three basic things. Skipping the snooze button, grabbing breakfast (For me drinking coffee.), and having enough time to get ready at a leisurely pace. Basically train yourself to wake up to your alarm, get cracking on eating/drinking whatever you like and having a few minutes to yourself, and then worry about getting ready.
#2.) GET UP EARLY.
Some studies in some internet page somewhere that I read some time ago have shown that people feel the most productive and get the most done between the hours of 5:00 A.M. and NOON. This is a real thing I promise. Try waking up with an hour extra of time to spare in the mornings and do some reading or homework. You’ll be amazed what you can get done so early in the morning.
#3.) Be a Super Hero.
*Warning Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Spoilers BELOW!!!*
If you haven’t watched Grey’s Anatomy then I would like to make that the unofficial #6 thing you should do for back to school. Anyway before brain surgery in the show the surgeon stands in a super hero stance – chest out, chin up, fists to hips – for two minutes or so. She explains that it really does help you perform better and do better work. If you’re nervous about school for any reason. Here is your solution… You’re welcome.
#4.) Get ORGANIZED!!!
We all hate taking the mess in our lives and trying to sort it out, I know… But I can help!
I have a video on organization and how to take notes here. (This link is safe. I’ve embedded it myself and it links back to NBN!)
AND I’LL HAVE A NEW GET ORGANIZED FOR BACK TO SCHOOL VIDEO UP SUNDAY!
#5.) Wednesday.
Spend every Wednesday here with me at Nothing But Nealie… I am currently working on queueing blogs for every Wednesday so SUBSCRIBE!
I love you all so so much and I’ll see you Sunday!
XOXO,
NBNealie

P.S. Happy late summer!
Hey so finals week is in a week and a half and I am swamped.
I am several tears and all nighters from my end goal of finishing semester as many of you are.
I’m sitting here with a terrible cough and a hole in my sock feeling a little deflated while I should be memorizing my lines for a Spanish presentation. Two problems with that:
1.) I am exhausted.
2.) I haven’t even written them yet.
I am one more coffee away from full mental breakdown. I don’t know what it is about end of semester that makes college seem SO MUCH HARDER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. It’s like all the work you did for months that you should be proud of doesn’t even matter anymore. It’s the vicious cycle that we all face. No amount of hours spent in the library is enough. No number of ounces of coffee can help you. Not to mention that we’re all just trying to function as adults and give our peer the small talk formalities that we lost the energy to do long ago.
I know. It all sounds a little dumpy. Probably because I am dumping it on you. What’s the point of being self proclaimed internet queen if you can’t use your powers for evil? (Which in this case just means telling the world that “end of semester Nealie” is not a fun person.)
This was a nice little break regardless.
Fingers crossed and lots of love from me to you on your school adventures.
XOXO

The next things I will say can be seen by some as biased as I was raised by my very own hero, offensive to some, and to others very American. Please if at any point you feel offended do feel free to click away from my blog. If at any point you see it fit to voice your own opinion feel free to comment below keeping in mind that all comments are moderated by myself and while I do respect the opinions of all here at NBN we do not tolerate a.) inappropriate language and b.) Disrespect towards others opinions. I love being a forum for opinion, but I love loving on people more than that so let’s all keep it respectful and remember that while I am voicing my opinion I do understand that mine may differ from other persons opinions.
It has come to my attention that this past Friday demonstrators were walking on the American flag outside of Odum Library at Valdosta State University. The Valdosta Daily Times has a complete article about it here.
So why the “protest”?
It is mentioned in the above article that one of the protesters said walking on the flag was, “a symbol of our protest. When a slave understands his situation and understands he doesn’t want to be in slavery, he does not respect or revere anything his slavemaster has put in front of him.”
Fine. Let that be the cause. However so many men and women for years and years have served our country (including minorities okay?) to make sure that very flag remains the symbol of our freedom. The only reason that these people have the right to essentially destroy this symbol of our freedom is because the nation allows it. HE IS EXERCISING A RIGHT GIVEN TO HIM BY THIS COUNTRY.
The answer is simple to me. Leave. Anyone can leave at any time and move anywhere. Get a visa and just go. Why stay in a place with so much “oppression” that you feel the need to act out against the land that supports you?
Do not to act as a radical against the country that has given you the right to act as a radical! You are feeding into the very thing that you are against anyways, and it all just comes down to circular reasoning.
IT GETS WORSE:
Air Force veteran Michelle Manhart was detained for trying to take the flag away from the protestors to dispose of it properly. (She even sort of lost it a little bit. I get it though. Americans tend to take the things that happen to our flag personally and very understandably so.) Any American reading this that isn’t moved by this sentiment, in my opinion does not belong here. You know what? I am a little biased towards my home country. I cannot understand why someone wouldn’t be. Maybe my bias runs deeper as I was raised by a War of Desert Storm Veteran and I tend to surround myself with other veterans and people that feel strongly about our service men and women.
Now (fair) counterpoint:
Due to the fact that supreme court ruled that constitutionally you can burn/destroy a flag because congress has yet to make an amendment against that act Manhart was not acting within her rights. So yes technically Manhart was “in the wrong”. Unfortunately she cannot constitutionally take that flag. Does that make the symbolic act of walking on our stars and stripes okay? I’ll give you a big U.S. of A hell no.
Here is a short little segment on it:
So:
Tell me everyone, why bite the hand that feeds you?
Better yet, do you think it’s okay to bite the hand that feeds you?
XOXO,
NBNealie
It’s me again speaking out of turn on my break. (I’m officially the worst at being on hiatus.)
Today’s blog post is about fear. We all know it too well. The thing that keeps us from every leap of faith we have ever wanted to take. The thing that has kept me from lots of cool experiences and probably all of you too. I just want to take this fine day to tell you all to just drop it. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the only thing keeping people from doing something big and important or saying something important.
I’m saying this because…
as a big sister I see my sister afraid to go to college.
as a friend I see my loved ones unable to say the things they should to others.
as a family member I see us all petrified by things we can’t control.
Do you know what this means?
THAT ALL OF US DEAL WITH IT ALL THE TIME.
It’s just toxic. We shouldn’t be afraid to say or do anything.
You know what you should be afraid of IF ANYTHING AT ALL???
Your biggest fear should be running out of time to say what you need to say or do what you need to do.
Let’s all work on something like that. Something a little more worth it. Don’t you think?
I need everyone to right now promise me we will do one thing we’re afraid of this week. (but if it doesn’t actually pay off don’t come looking for me. Seriously, I’m not a social genius. I’m a chick with a keyboard. THIS IS YOUR DISCLAIMER OKAY?)
XOXO,
NBNealie
It’s my birth week and I’m feeling so lucky.
Here’s why:
I kicked off my week surrounded by the people I love endlessly in the town I love on the college campus I love.
Also, I kicked it off in the gym. With a new shoulder press personal best. That I’m pumped about. (It’s still a very small weight but I started off unable to press the 10s kay?)
Now I am in pretty San Diego with my family. This place steals my heart a little more every year. I’ll be back home Thursday.
Friday after classes I get to see all of my friends that have gone off to other colleges.
Saturday (my actual birthday!) I get to do my favorite thing. Go out with my boots on. Dancing. Me. Boots. And a dance floor. I’m so excited I am unable to form sentences.
Aaaaand last but not least on Sunday I am doing my very favorite thing. I’m being taken to the Museum of Modern Art. I love that place. So much. See. It’s the sentence thing. Again.
I hope everyone is enjoying my birth week! Talk at the end of April when I’m done writing all these news stories for class. (I was just so excited about my birthday that I had to share.)
XOXO,
NBNealie
