A.) Excuse the singular curse word that is in this post.
B.) Excuse my extended absence due to finals week and family time over the holidays.
C.) Lets get into it.
Amen people.
YOU are in charge of one person and that is YOURSELF. You can’t change what another person will say or do to you… HOWEVER, you will ALWAYS have the ability to remove yourself from a toxic situation. I want everyone to remember that as we head into 2015. Make changes. Be bold.
NO ONE can make you walk around with the weight of 2014 on your shoulders. No one has that power. Heck, in your younger years your own mother probably couldn’t get you to do something as simple as clean your room. So why is it that NOW we let other people dictate what pieces of our past we will load up and carry around with us?
Answers?
Anyone?
Oh, you can’t think of a good one?
I can’t either.
This doesn’t just apply to a romantic relationship like the picture says. It could be anyone. So I have here a list of a few people you should probably let go.
1.) The Significant Other That You’re on the Fence About. (i.e. The bf/gf that doesn’t make you feel like a 10 out of 10.)
Hit the road Jack. It’s hard to move on and make changes if your significant other doesn’t make you feel GREAT or motivate you to get out there and do great things. Remember: You need people that make you want to be a better person!
2.) That Dude (or Chick for my Manly Men) That’s Been Stringing You Along.
You’re smart. I’m just going to come out and say it, friend… If you haven’t D.T.R. by now IT’S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Go work on you and some of your goals instead of wasting energy on this loser. (They don’t deserve you anyway. Xo.)
3.) The “Sucker”. (i.e. The Negative Friend)
We all have one!
“Monday’s suck.” “The weather this week will suck.” “Pizza sucks.” “Tests suck.” “Class sucks.” “Work sucks.”
Haven’t you had enough of them sucking the life out of you? It’s good to be excited about things from the nice weather to the good sandwich you had for lunch to tests you aced to new job opportunities. Find someone to celebrate with instead of someone that picks at life!
4.) Reckless Rachel/Robert. (i.e. The one friend who probably should’ve been hit with heavy fines or some jail time just based on how bad they are at making decisions but somehow miraculously hasn’t been yet.)
The friend that’s like, “No we can totally party Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, and hit it hard this weekend and pull an all-nighter on Monday and probably still make a -C on that Econ test.” DROP THEM! You don’t have time for all that noise. You (hopefully anyway) have deadlines and goals and success to figure out! I’m not saying don’t have fun, but you and I BOTH know that Reckless Rachel is just plain irresponsible.
Hi it’s 4:00 a.m and I’m coming at you with SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE. Anyway. I hope you really think about the changes you need to make this next year. Remember that we all have to make some hard decisions and the answers aren’t always black and white. Go with your gut and make your own happiness.
XOXO,
NBNealie
